Twentynine Palms firefighters, along with crews from the National Park Service and the Bureau of Land Management, responded to a small vegetation fire at Jumbo Rocks campground about 12:15 Friday afternoon. The fire was smoldering when firefighters arrived, burned vegetation in about one-quarter acre, and damaged two road signs. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Visitors are asked to be especially vigilant around campfires and with cigarettes during these hot, dry conditions.
