SMALL EARTHQUAKE HITS JOHNSON VALLEY

A weak earthquake struck a remote section of the Mojave Desert about 24 miles north of Yucca Valley, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The magnitude 3.1 quake was reported at 8:40 p.m. last night, Monday, August 3, and was centered on a hilltop at the eastern end of Johnson Valley, 28 miles east of Lucerne Valley. There were no reports of damage or injury.
