SMALL BRUSH FIRES CLOSE MORONGO GRADE TUESDAY AFTERNOON

Two small brush fires closed Highway 62 on the Morongo Grade for about an hour Tuesday afternoon. Fire Captain Brennain Gorter said Morongo Valley firefighters were called to assist Riverside Calfire at 2:38 p.m. The spot fires were about 200 square feet in size on the right shoulder in a curve of the eastbound lanes about halfway down the Morongo Grade. The cause of the fires is unknown.
