Sky’s the Limit will host a star party Saturday, August 30. The star party will start at the Twentynine Palms observatory about 8:00 p.m. and end about 1 a.m. Bring binoculars, telescopes, water, snacks, chairs, and dress for unpredictable weather. For more information, call 760-367-7222. Sky’s The Limit Observatory and Nature Center is just north of the entrance to the Joshua Tree National Park at 9697 Utah Trail in Twentynine Palms. Planets Saturn, Mars and Neptune, stars Vega, Altair, Deneb, and constellations Scorpius, Sagittarius, and Cygnus will all be in evidence. Pads are provided for telescope setup, and STL volunteers will make every effort to assist as needed in setting up and using equipment. All are encouraged to come around sunset to have time to set up and visit other campus educational attractions before the cosmic tour begins. Everyone should dress for unpredictable desert weather and bring snacks, water bottles, and chairs. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No pets and no smoking allowed on the STL campus, and visitors must carry out all trash.
