SKELETAL REMAINS FOUND NEAR HOMELESS ENCAMPMENT IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

The Sheriff’s Department has released more information about the skeletal remains found in Twentynine Palms Monday. A man was walking his dog in Twentynine Palms near the 73100 block of Cactus Drive about 7:40 p.m. when he found the bones, which still had clothing on them. Sheriff’s homicide detectives were called to investigate and confirmed the bones were human. Due to the extent of decomposition, an autopsy will be conducted to determine the identification of the victim. Investigators did not locate any obvious signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. A homeless encampment was found near the victim. Positive identification and notification of next of kin is still pending. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective James Williams at 909-387-3589.
