After 6 weeks of intensive investigation and searches on-foot, 4-wheel-drive vehicles and helicopter, there is still nothing on the whereabouts of Erin Corwin, the pregnant wife of a Twentynine Palms Marine, who went missing June 28. Her husband, Marine Cpl. Jonathan Corwin reported her missing June 29 after she did not return to their home aboard the Marine Corps Base. She had told her husband she was going to Joshua Tree National Park. Her blue 2013 Toyota Corolla was found the next day near the base. Sheriff’s Captain Dale Mondary had told Z107.7 News, “We still have no evidence a crime occurred, we’re looking for a crime scene.” The last official update July 22 by the Sheriff’s Department they said had received information regarding possible locations to be searched for potential evidence of foul play. Capt. Leland Bolt, of the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigation Division, said, “Although suspicious circumstances have existed from the inception of this investigation, there is still not enough evidence to rule out that Erin Corwin could be voluntarily missing.” Corwin’s case has been included in the California Missing Persons database. She is reported as a “Voluntary Missing Adult.” there was 38,854 people reported missing in California in 2013.
