SIX BURGLARIES AND ATTEMPTS IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

The Sheriff’s Department is investigating at least six burglaries and attempted burglaries over the New Year’s weekend in Twentynine Palms. According to Sheriff’s reports, burglars attempted to break into a business in the Historic Plaza between New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The employee said the door had pry marks, and someone had also tried to gain entry by breaking a hole in the wall.
Burglars were more successful in their attempt to break into a business in the 6400 block of Cholla Avenue between New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. After forcing open the front door, the burglars stole watches and jewelry from the business. A third burglary was also reported Friday, in which a refrigerator and air conditioning unit had been stolen sometime during the past three days from apartments in the 7500 block of Maude Adams Avenue.
On Saturday, residents in the 73500 block of Buena Vista Drive reported that between 1:30 and 3 p.m. that afternoon, someone broke into their home through a bedroom window, ransacked the house and stole prescription drugs and a large-screen television.
And sometime over the weekend, burglars entered a home in the 6400 block of Adobe Road through an unlocked bathroom window and stole a television, cell phone, and a heater.
And finally, neighbors in the 6700 block of Manzanita Avenue caught two men, identified only as black males, going through an unlocked car parked in a driveway about 1 a.m. Sunday morning. When the neighbors asked if the men knew the owner, the suspected burglars fled with the car’s registration and blue tooth headphones. Anyone with any information about these burglaries should call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
