The Twentynine Palms Historical Society’s newest exhibit at the Old Schoolhouse Museum, “Signs, Signs Everywhere a Sign,”. Reporter Eric Knabe has your invitation to signage history…
Signage dates back to ancient times, when prehistoric peoples created petroglyphs and pictographs to impart messages to others. The new exhibit at the Old Schoolhouse Museum doesn’t go back quite that far, but it does explore signs from throughout the community dating back to the 1940s. The exhibit curated features business, government and organizational signs, street signs and yardsticks used for advertising. The exhibit will be on display through April 30 at the museum, 6760 National Park Drive in Twentynine Palms. Hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. For more information, go online to www.29palmshistorical.com or call (760) 367-2366.
