Venture into the heart of Joshua Tree National Park this weekend and visit the historic Keys Ranch homestead. Managing editor Tami Roleff says you’ll be able to meet archeologists and rangers, and explore old automobiles, windmill, stamp mill and other examples of a bygone era…
Joshua Tree National Park will feature six free tours per day of Key’s Ranch Saturday and Sunday, but you have to sign up today. The 1 ½-hour long tours will be offered at 8, 9:30, and 11 a.m., and 4, 5:30, and 7 p.m. Tours are limited to 50 people, and the deadline to register is 5 p.m. today. Call 760-367-5522 to reserve your spot. Key’s Ranch is a historic site in the park filled with old vehicles, buildings, a stamp mill, wind mill, and other artifacts. Park officials caution that there will be an excessive heat warning in effect for this weekend, so visitors are urged to bring water, a hat, and sunscreen. A spray bottle would also be a good idea for safety and comfort.
