The Desert Institute at Joshua Tree National Park will hold a class on flowering plants March 13 through March 15. Students will be given a basic botany lesson, be introduced to field guides, and have a lab session to examine flowers and their parts. During field days in the park, students will identify flowers. This class offers 1.5 units through the UC Riverside extension. The Desert Institute will also hold a class on geology of the Mojave National Preserve March 14-15. During this two-day overnight class that includes camping at the Hole-in-the-Wall campground, students will explore and learn about the geology of the preserve.
