Community interest is high for Tuesday’s grand opening of the Morongo Oasis Crisis Residential Treatment Center in Joshua Tree; however, available parking is low. Reporter Mike Lipsitz brings us news of a work-around…
The public is invited to the opening of the $9 million Morongo Oasis Crisis Residential Treatment Center on the highway in Joshua Tree is this Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Because there is no parking on the highway and limited on-site limited parking, guests are encouraged to use a free shuttle provided by the Morongo Basin Transit Authority. Visitors are encouraged to park along Sunny Vista Road, Torres Avenue or Division Street and hail the MBTA shuttle as it makes the loop. The service will be provided for the entirety of Tuesday’s open house so transportation back to your vehicle will also be provided. Those attending the opening celebration will learn about services offered at the state-of-the-art treatment facility, participate in a guided tour, and be treated to light refreshments. The Morongo Oasis Crisis Center will offer an alternative to costly inpatient hospitalization or incarceration for those facing mental health crises.
