Sheriff’s deputies were called to a report of shots fired at a Yucca Valley motel Tuesday morning. About 7 a.m., deputies were sent to the America’s Best Value Inn and Suites where they found several bullet holes in the exterior wall of a room. A security check was made inside the room and they contacted Leighton Turner, 39, of Desert Hot Springs. Deputies found several more rounds that had been fired from within the room. A search warrant was obtained, and deputies located a hand gun and several rounds of fired ammunition inside the room. Leighton Turner appeared distraught, and he was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation.
