SHOPLIFTING LEADS TO ARREST ON MULTIPLE WARRANTS

A transient was arrested Saturday on warrants after he was accused of stealing wine from a Joshua Tree convenience store. According to a Sheriff’s report, Eric Hurtado, 26, went into Sam’s Market at the corner of Hallee Road and Highway 62 about 9:30 Saturday morning and allegedly put two bottles of wine in his backpack, and left without paying. A deputy found Hurtado at a bus stop just west of the market. Eric Hurtado was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for investigation of theft, and for two warrants for grand theft auto and driving with a suspended license, with his bail set at $125,000.
