One man is in custody for attempted murder after shooting another man at a carwash in Twentynine Palms Friday morning.
According to Sheriff’s Sergeant James Porter, the victim, who has only been identified as a Hispanic male from Twentynine Palms, was washing his GMC Yukon in the self-service carwash in the 5100 block of Adobe Road about 9:35 a.m. when he was approached by Eduardo Soriano, 38, of Twentynine Palms. The two men argued, and Porter said Soriano shot the victim in the leg and foot before fleeing in his gray SUV. The victim identified his attacker as Soriano to Sheriff deputies, who arrested him at Phelps Dining Hall on board the Combat Center. Porter said a search warrant was obtained, and ammunition and magazines for a .40-caliber pistol were recovered, but the gun had not been found yet. Eduardo Soriano was arrested for investigation of attempted murder, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $1 million. The victim was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs.
