An Oregon man was rescued by helicopter after he fell while hiking at the 49 Palms Oasis in Twentynine Palms Sunday. According to the Sheriff’s Department, Victor Krummenacher, 56, of Portland, was hiking when he fell off a rock and injured his knee. He called 911 about noon. Paramedics from Morongo Basin Ambulance hiked in to assess the injury and called for a helicopter rescue to hoist Krummenacher out. Sheriff Rescue Helicopter Air Rescue 6 responded and lowered a medic and a rescue litter, and Krummenacher was hoisted out to the parking lot, where MBA transported him to Hi-Desert Medical Center for treatment.
