Sheriff’s H.O.P.E. team contacts Morongo Basin unhoused in “Operation Shelter Me”

The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department’s conducted outreach to the Morongo Basin’s unhoused population, resulting in a number of people being connected with county services.

The Sheriff’s Department’s Homeless Outreach Proactive Enforcement Team, called H.O.P.E, brought their “Operation Shelter Me” to the hi-desert last Friday (November 10), with a focus on contacting unhoused people with severe mental illness and connecting them with medical professionals.

The Sheriff’s Department reported that they contacted 15 individuals experiencing homelessness. The team provided nine individuals with referrals to programs for assistance and seven individuals were linked with follow-up professional services.
