Two people, including a San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy, were found dead Sunday in the wreckage of a small plane that crashed Saturday in the Mountains near Big Bear. Rebecca Joan Raymond, 28, was assigned to the Barstow station, officials said. The name of the other victim, believed to be a 30-year-old man from Helendale, has not been released. The search began about 10:30 p.m. Saturday after the two didn’t show up to the Apple Valley Airport. An aerial search began immediately, the victims were in a Cessna 172, a four-seat, single-engine airplane. The cause of the crash is under investigation. About 9:30 a.m. Sunday, a sheriff’s helicopter located the wreckage. A flight crew member was lowered down and found the victims’ bodies. The plane went down off Saw Mill Road about a half-mile south of the airport, in an area not accessible by vehicle.
