UPDATE 6:08 PM, THURSDAY, JANUARY 31, 2019 … with victim identification
More information is available on a murder of a man that occurred in Wonder Valley Wednesday. According to Sheriff’s Homicide investigators the body of the man from Twentynine Palms was found in a mobile home near Wilson Road in the Wonder Valley area. The victim, who has not been positively identified by the Coroner’s office, has been identified to Z107.7 News by family members as Bryon Calvert, 56. Calvert had been reported missing by his family Wednesday afternoon. The suspect, a male who is in custody but has also not yet been identified or booked, stole the victim’s vehicle and fled the crime scene. He was spotted in the stolen vehicle Wednesday evening and was taken into custody by the CHP and Sheriff’s Deputies. The exact circumstances of the murder, cause of death, and nature of the crime is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s specialized Homicide detail. Sheriff’s Captain Trevis Newport has confirmed with Z107.7 News that there was a homicide in Twentynine Palms Wednesday. He said it is early in the investigation and no details have been released yet. Z107.7 will update this story when more information is available.
