The Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Department is holding its first fundraising event to provide area children with everything they need to go back to school. On Friday, August 5, residents are asked to “fill a cop car with school supplies” at Walmart in Yucca Valley from 10 to 5. Suggestions of needed school supplies include backpacks; notebooks, paper, folders, and insert dividers; pens, pencils, erasers, and pencil sharpeners; crayons; rulers; glue sticks; scissors; highlighters; and calculators.
