Recently, the Sheriff’s Department has responded to several reports of harassing phone calls and identity theft. The caller is telling the victims that they are a credit collection agency collecting on a delinquent account. They refuse to give any information other than to tell the victim to pay for the debt over the phone with a credit card to avoid further late fees. The Sheriff’s Department reminds the public not to give out any pertinent personal information over the telephone to anyone at anytime.
