Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a male suspect who was seen driving a stolen vehicle. On Monday (March 7), at about 1 a.m., a press release details that deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for moving violations near South Old Woman Springs Road and Starlight Mesa Drive in Yucca Valley. The vehicle, identified as a Honda Civic, failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. When running the vehicle information through a database, deputies reported that the vehicle was stolen out of Washington State. According to deputies, a male driver was seen driving but refused to pull over. The vehicle reportedly continued at a high rate of speed through residential streets with willful disregard for public safety. After covering an approximate distance of six miles, the vehicle became disabled when the tires were stuck on soft sand, ending the pursuit. The male driver was allegedly seen running away from the vehicle. Deputies arrived, secured the vehicle, and conducted an extensive area check, but the male subject was not located. Deputies are continuing to work the case.
