SHERIFF INVESTIGATING TWO INCIDENTS OF COUNTERFEIT MONEY IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating two related cases of women passing counterfeit bills in Twentynine Palms Saturday. According to Sheriff’s reports, three women went to a business in the 72600 block of 29 Palms Highway and passed the funny money. They returned later about 3:30 and tried to pass more of the fake money, but this time the clerk refused to accept it. Then about 10 minutes later, the women went to a business in the 73400 block of 29 Palms Highway where they bought $20 worth of gas and two other items. One woman first gave the clerk a $50 bill, then asked for it back and handed over a $100 bill. The clerk determined the bill was fake and demanded another form of payment. The women began to argue with the clerk and then left the location in a dark purple sedan, heading eastbound on the highway. Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
