The Sheriff’s Department released a letter written by Sheriff John McMahon commending the county’s deputies for their patience and professionalism during the protests that have been roiling the county the last two weeks.
McMahon wrote, “We live in a great country where people have the right to assemble and peacefully protest. We thank the protestors who exercised their freedom of speech and remained peaceful. We respect and cherish the right to protest and be heard, but the message is lost when violence, vandalism, and looting erupts. We stand alongside those who stand up against social injustice and remain committed to working with those determined to improve the quality of life for every member of society.” The complete letter is available in this story.
