Local CHP and Sheriff’s will be on maximum DUI enforcement this weekend. The Fourth of July is one of the deadliest holidays of the year due to alcohol-impaired driving crashes. The state’s DUI task force is stepping up enforcement efforts to catch and arrest impaired drivers who put themselves and others at risk. The California Highway Patrol will deploy special DUI saturation patrols from 6 p.m. tonight through Wednesday, and the Sheriff will staff extra DUI units from Thursday through Saturday. In addition, the Yucca Valley police will have a sobriety/driver’s license checkpoint somewhere in Yucca Valley from 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday. Remember, if you drink, don’t drive.
