Sheriff’s deputies are seeking the suspect in a hit-and-run collision that left one man injured in Yucca Valley.
On Wednesday (February 26) at 8 a.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an vehicle versus pedestrian collision at the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Grand Ave in Yucca Valley. Witnesses told deputies that a red hatchback was traveling southbound on Grand Ave when it struck a 74 year-old resident of Yucca Valley. Deputies say the driver got out of the vehicle, assisted the victim to the curb, and returned to his vehicle, making a u-turn and fleeing northbound on Grand Ave.
The victim sustained major injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
Deputies and California Highway Patrol searched the area, including the use of a helicpoter, but were unable to locate the suspect.
The Sheriff’s Department describes the suspect as a Hispanic male adult, approximately 40 to 50 years old, and was witnessed wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and black shoes at the time of the incident. The suspect vehicle is described as an unknown make/model red hatchback.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information about the driver or vehicle is urged to come forward.
