SHERIFF AND FIRE OFFICIALS SAY “KING OF THE HAMMERS” SAFE, SUCCESSFUL

The “King of the Hammers” off-road competition came to close yesterday. Some 35,000 to 40,000 spectators came to “Hammertown” at the Johnson Valley off-road area north of Yucca Valley to see more than 415 teams race in a variety of competitions. The event saw praise from law enforcement and safety officials. Sheriff’s Captain Dale Mondary said the event was great, tweeting out, “Relatively quiet weekend with a few minor arrests. but overall safe and fun for all.” County fire officials said the King of the Hammers organizers did a great job to host the safest event yet. Fire personnel were stationed on the site for ten days.
