Sex offender arrested for suspicion of failing to register his new address in Twentynine Palms

A sex offender with a long rap sheet and a history of disappearing was arrested in Twentynine Palms for allegedly failing to register his new address.

Travon Kelly, 37, who is registered as a sex offender in the state of Washington, was contacted by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies on Thursday (March 13) around 10:15 p.m. at a home in the 6600 block of Clare Ave in Twentynine Palms. Deputies say they responded to a call from the person whom Kelly was staying with at the home. The resident told deputies that they asked Kelly to leave the home, and that he became angry, at which point the resident called 911.

Kelly was contacted by deputies, who discovered that he has been living somewhere in California since January, and that, as a registered sex offender, he is required to register his new address within five days of moving. Kelly was taken into custody.

In 2013, the Snohomish County Department of Corrections announced that they were seeking Kelly for failing to register as a sex offender.

Travon Kelly was arrested for failing to register as a felony sex offender and has been released on bail.
