SEVERAL ITEMS AFFECTING MORONGO BASIN ON TOMORROW’S SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AGENDA

At tomorrow’s regular 10 a.m. meeting of county supervisors in San Bernardino, the board will consider several items relevant to our Morongo Basin. Reporter Mike Lipsitz tells us what is on the agenda…

Supervisors are expected affirm an updated contract with the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development, stipulating that only those cities, including Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms, that comply with Fair Housing Rules will be eligible for HUD funds.

In what is all but certain to be the final nail in the coffin of the proposed Joshua Tree Solar Farm at the former site of the Joshua Tree Airport, supervisors will rescind all related approvals for the project which became mired in court challenges.

And at an end-of-meeting public hearing, supervisors will consider a handful of updates and clarifications to the County Development Code sections on recreational cabins, camping, landscaping, signs, community gardens, and short-term rentals.

And finally, the board will approve the appointment of Kevin Cole to the Twentynine Palms Cemetery District Board.

The public may survey tomorrow’s supervisors’ meeting online or at the county government building in Joshua Tree where comments may be made via live video link.
