Services have been set for Ronald Max Proudfoot, who died June 22 at home in Twentynine Palms. He was 88 years old. Max Proudfoot is survived by his sons Chris Proudfoot of Joshua Tree, Lewis Proudfoot, Duncan Proudfoot, Matthew Proudfoot, and John Sobieski; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Max Proudfoot was born August 24, 1929 in Osceola, Iowa. He served 28 years in the Marine Corps, including tours in Korea and Vietnam, and he received the Bronze Star with Combat V ribbon. He retired from the Marine Corps as a colonel. Max Proudfoot was known for his dedication to charitable causes, including the Old Schoolhouse Museum and Copper Mountain College. A viewing will be held Friday, July 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Little Church of the Desert in Twentynine Palms. The funeral service will be Saturday, July 14, at 10 a.m. at the Protestant Chapel on the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center. A reception will follow in the Officers’ Club.
