The San Bernardino County Department of Public Works Special Districts’ Desert View Conservation Area, better known to locals as Section Six, in Joshua Tree received an award from the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) for its excellent design. Special Districts project management staff collaborated with Architerra Design Group to design this grant-funded project. The project included a prefabricated shade structure, prefabricated restroom, large custom steel entrance sign, interpretive directional/wayfinding signage, and various entrance gates.
The San Bernardino County Public Works Department, Special Districts Division also was awarded a National Association of Counties, (NACo), 2021 Achievement Award in the category of Arts, Culture, and Historic Preservation for the completion of the Desert View Recreational Trails project.
