SECRETARY OF DEFENSE VISITS THE TWENTYNINE PALMS MARINE BASE YESTERDAY

The Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, MAGTAF Training command, hosted the Unites States Secretary of Defense yesterday. Managing Editor Tami Roleff tells us why he was in our Morongo Basin…
The Secretary of the Defense was at the Combat Center in Twentynine Palms Tuesday to observe Marine Corps experimental training exercises. Afterward, Secretary Ashton Carter discussed the training with a group of Marines.
“Another thing that you do here is experiment, innovate, in tactics and in overall operational approaches with technology. That’s important because we need to stay ahead of our enemies. We need to remain the best.”
Carter then praised the Marine Corps.
“You are, today, the finest fighting force the world has ever known. We need to make sure it stays that way. One of the ways that we make it stay that way is by staying innovative, being open to changing the way we do things so that we continue to be one step ahead of all our potential enemies.”
Carter ended by extending his gratitude—and that of all Americans—to all those who wear a uniform for protecting their fellow citizens.
