The second suspect in an organized ring of retail theft was arrested at Home Depot in Yucca Valley Monday. Store employees told deputies that Adrian Gutierrez, 38, of Pico Rivera, was a suspect in an earlier theft from the store and was currently trespassing at the store. Investigators say that in the earlier theft, Emily Smith, 26, of Yucca Valley, went to Home Depot July 6 and stole $1,400 worth of merchandise. When she was confronted by employees, she gave some of the merchandise back before fleeing. Deputies arrested her at her home where she told them she gave the merchandise to Gutierrez, who would sell it and give her half the proceeds. Emily Smith was arrested last week for investigation of organized retail theft, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set at zero dollars. Adrian Gutierrez was arrested on suspicion of felony organized grand theft, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with his bail set at $25,000.
