SECOND SUSPECT ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH TWENTYNINE PALMS ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

A second man has been arrested in connection with a Twentynine Palms burglary last month. About 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, deputies were called to the 73000 block of Sunnyvale Drive in Twentynine Palms for a report of an attempted burglary. According to the reports, four men broke the gate to the yard and tried to break into the house through a sliding glass door. A witness spotted the men and they ran off before entering the house. About 3:30 a.m., deputies learned that four men with a similar description went to the AM/PM store on Highway 62 in Twentynine Palms and stole about $35 worth of merchandise. Using evidence at the scene, as well as surveillance cameras, deputies identified one of the suspects as Xavier Johnson, 21. Deputies located Xavier Johnson and he was arrested September 26 for investigation of attempted burglary. On Thursday, October 17, deputies located a second suspect as Damien Wilkerson, 18, of Twentynine Palms at Sunnyslope Drive and Bagley Avenue in Twentynine Palms. Damien Wilkerson was arrested for investigation of attempted burglary and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $75,000.
