Second arrest for man who made over 7000 harassing phone calls to Sheriff’s office

A man was arrested for the second time on suspicion of making harassing phone calls to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Luke Dumas, a 48 year-old resident of Rialto, was arrested on July 22 for making more than 7,000 phone calls to emergency numbers, which the Sheriff’s office said prevented staff from attending to legitimate emergency calls.

Yesterday (August 24), Dumas was released from custody, and Sheriff’s Deputies say they immediately began receiving numerous phone calls they describe as “repetitive harassing, non-emergency spam calls from an unidentified suspect,” several of which threatened to harm emergency response personnel.

Deputies quickly determined that Dumas was again responsible for the phone calls, and located him. Luke Dumas was arrested for suspicion of intimidating a witness, harassing 911, and committing a felony while on bail, and booked into the Central Detention Center.

Investigators believed Dumas may be connected to additional harassing and annoying calls to emergency services throughout the Inland Empire. Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact The Public Affairs Division at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Headquarters, at (909) 387-3700.
