Every summer, temperatures rise and the number of campers decrease in Joshua Tree National Park. To reduce maintenance and allow vegetation a breather, the following camping areas will close as of Monday, June 10:
Cottonwood Campground, (Loop B)
Belle Campground
Ryan Campground
White Tank Campground
Indian Cove Campground family sites (West Loop) Sites 40-101
Black Rock Campground, sites (49-60 & 69-99)
The last day to use Recreation.gov for campsite reservations will be today, June 8. Starting Sunday, June 9, all open, family campgrounds will be first- come, first-served. Group sites will remain on the reservation system through the summer with one day in advance reservations accepted. Jumbo Rocks and Hidden Valley campgrounds will be open all summer. Closed campgrounds will reopen August 30.
