Yesterday the Twentynine Palms Wildcat boys’ tennis team competed in their first league tournament against Palm Valley School Firebirds at Mission Hills Resort in Rancho Mirage. The tournament ended in a 9-sets-to-9-sets tie, which came down to counting games won from both teams to determine the winner. The ’Cats won 73 games to 63 games. Coach Larry Battle said, In doubles, Edgar Sosa and partner Brian Gaddis swept wining all three sets. Sam Choi and partner Raul Hernandez won two sets out three and Marcus Simon and partner Scott Clinkscales won one set out of three. In singles, Jarod Burks won one set out three, Bradley Linkey won 1 set out of three and John Lanza won one set out of three.
