SEARCH OPERATIONS SCALED BACK FOR HIKER MISSING IN JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK

Search and Rescue teams have scaled back their search for a 51-year-old Canada resident who disappeared while hiking at Joshua Tree National Park. Paul Miller was last seen by his wife about 9 a.m. Friday when he left for a hike on the 49 Palms Oasis trail, accessed from Twentynine Palms. She reported him overdue about noon. His car was found in the parking lot at the trailhead. Joshua Tree National Park and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue teams launch an immediate search. As the search enters its sixth day, search and rescue teams have scaled back their search. Searchers will continue to methodically search areas of high probability when sufficient resources are available. The trail and parking lot are closed to the public during the search. Officials ask that anyone with information on Miller’s whereabouts, or who has any other helpful details, call 909-383-5651.
