With thousands of schools across the state of California beginning the new school year via distance learning, it is important for students to have access to digital devices and the internet to complete schoolwork. The “Closing the Digital Divide” task force has been working since April to figure out how to connect California students to the technology they need for distance learning during the 2020-2021 school year. During a webinar on August 5, MUSD Superintendent Tom Baumgarten spoke to the task force regarding the need for expanded internet and digital devices for students in the Morongo Basin. The school district is currently in process of acquiring additional electronic devices to distribute to students for its upcoming distance learning program.
