SCHOOL DISTRICT TO SUPPLY THREE MEALS A DAY TO ALL STUDENTS

In May, 2018, the Morongo Unified School District adopted a pilot program for the National School Lunch Program, which provides free breakfast and lunch to students. The school district is reminding students, and parents of students, that this free student meal program will continue through the 2019-2020 school year. Reporter Andrew Dieleman explains…

According to MUSD Nutritional Services Director Janet Barth, the National School Lunch Program allowed the school district to serve more than 1.9 million free meals to students during the 2018-2019 school year. This successful program was officially adopted by the school board for the 2019-2020 school year during its May 14 meeting. On August 15, The school district also announced its continued participation in the Department of Agriculture’s Child and Adult Care food program, which provides a free bagged supper to students. This means that all MUSD students, K-12, will continue to have the option of eating three meals a day at all District schools free of charge.
