Many children are forced to cope with fear and stress in the wake of traumatic experiences. MUSD and the Save the Children nonprofit organization recently received a $702,000 grant from the California Department of Education to help children, primarily from kindergarten through third grade, cope with these traumatic experiences. Over the next three years, the grant will help fund a number of education-based programs in 11 elementary schools district wide that will teach children how to better manage their emotions and feel more in control of them. For more information on the grant or programs, contact MUSD at 760-367-9191.
