The former school bus driver who pleaded guilty last month to possession of child pornography, and lewd acts with children on his school bus, was sentenced to six years in state prison Friday. Alex Gomez, 57, was sentenced to six years for each of the two counts of lewd acts with a child, and 2 years for the child pornography charge, to be served concurrently. The charge of using a hidden camera was dropped in his plea bargain agreement last month. Gomez will also have to register as a sex offender for life. In court Friday, Judge Rodney Cortez read the victim’s impact statements and ordered Gomez to pay $1800 restitution fine and $210 in court costs. Gomez was arrested in January after he accidentally left a camera’s memory card which contained pornographic photos and videos of children on a table in a restaurant. The waitress who found the memory card notified the FBI.
