The Board then heard a presentation from Sheriff’s Captain Trevis Newport, who informed the Board that the new Morongo Unified Restorative Youth Court Program is now up and running and that the District’s School Resource Officers had received updated active-shooter training. Newport also emphasized that the Sheriff’s Department is doing everything it can to oppose the placement of violent sexual predator Ross Wollschlager in Joshua Tree. During public comment, the Board received numerous requests from parents of students to address the issue of bullying in several District schools.
