The Morongo Unified School District Board of Education will swear in newly-appointed board member John Cole at tonight’s meeting. The appointment will be followed by a much-anticipated joint meeting with the Copper Mountain Community College Board of Trustees. The two boards will discuss numerous collaborative projects, including the success of the 2015 Memorandum of Understanding and the joint Integrity Project between the two boards. When the joint meeting concludes at 5 p.m., The MUSD board of Trustees will adjourn to closed session to conference with labor negotiators, then reconvene at 6:30 p.m. to hold a work study session on plans for the former Joshua Tree Elementary School property. In open session, beginning at 7 p.m., the board will hear one report on the annual financial audit and another from the Measure O bond committee, discuss the 2019-2020 school year sunshine proposal, and approve a new position for the district’s PLUS program. The meeting will be held at Yucca Valley Elementary School, 7601 Hopi Trail in Yucca Valley.
