There may be marching at tonight’s meeting of the Morongo Unified School District Board of Education. Here with more is reporter David Haldane…
Attendees of tonight’s Morongo Unified School District Board of Education meeting may find it difficult to stay in their seats. Or, at the very least, there’s likely to be lots of foot-tapping to the sound of a different beat.
That beat will be provided by the Yucca Valley High School Marching Band and Twentynine Palms High School Select Choir, both of which will be performing live to honor a retired school board member.
He’s Ed Will, who began with the district as a music educator and remained a strong advocate of music education during his 13 years on the board. Will resigned in July to move to Barstow. But he will be at tonight’s meeting at which members of the public are invited to wish him well.
In other business, the board is expected to set December 13 as its annual reorganization meeting.
Tonight’s meeting gets underway at 7 p.m. at Joshua Tree Elementary School on Sunburst Avenue.
