SCHOOL BOARD PUBLIC HEARINGS ON ELECTION DISTRICTS AND WAIVER LAST NIGHT

The Morongo Unified School District board of education met in open session last night. Here’s reporter Andrew Dieleman with the details…
The MUSD Board of Education began in open session with a public hearing on the transition to by-trustee area elections and proposed trustee maps. There was some public concern regarding whether the maps gave sufficient representation to select areas. It is anticipated that the board will adopt one of the proposed maps during the regular board meeting on February 27. The board then held a public hearing to request a waiver from the State Board of Education to waive a public election on the transition to trustee area elections. There was no public comment, prompting the board to approve the waiver-request process. The board then heard the Statutory School Facilities Report, presented by Director of Maintenance and Operations David Daniels. There was no public comment.
