The Morongo Unified School District Board met last night, prior to their usual meeting, to interview candidates for their fifth trustee. Reporter Heather Clisby was there…
In an effort to fill the remainder of former trustee Natalie Cohen’s two-year term, the Morongo Unified School District board met last night to interview three viable candidates.
MUSD Board President Chris Proudfoot, Board Clerk Karalee Hargrove, and fellow board trustees Hilary Slotta and Karrie Condley posed the same 13 questions to all three candidates: John Cole, Ronald Stewart, and Ron Smith.
While the board agreed that all three candidates were highly qualified and worthy of the position, they ultimately landed on former Twentynine Palms City Councilman John Cole, though the appointment will not be official until the board meets again next week.
Cole’s 41 years as a teacher, coach, administrator and principal in the district played a role as the board seeks a seamless transition. Proudfoot had noted that it was actually Cole who had taught him geometry decades ago.
