Work Study Session

A work study session was held on the Single School Plans for Academic Achievement for four schools last night; Palm Vista Elementary School, Twentynine Palms Junior High School, Twentynine Palms High School, and Black Rock High School. Each school presented their Single School Plans (SPSA’s) to the Board over 4 board meetings in August and September. Each school presented their plans, goals, and activities to help students and their schools move forward this year. Plans were developed at each site through the School Site Councils and approved for submission to the Board of Education.

Reports and Comments

Presentation of the Deferred Maintenance Plan

David Daniels, Director of Maintenance and Operations presented information on the deferred maintenance plan. Funding for these items (painting, HVAC, repaving, roofing) all come out of the general fund as the state no longer allocates funding for this. The plan is a rotation of schools, correcting and addressing the most critical needs first. This plan can be revisited if the Bond passes.

The consent agenda passed with amendments as noted with a vote of 4-0. The Board eliminated one name from the personnel list on the agenda as that individual no longer works for Morongo Unified.

The Board will sign the necessary papers to permit Dr. Turner to sign required documents for the county and the state.
