The Morongo Unified School District Board of trustees will meet in a work-study session at 5:00 today to receive presentations on the Single Plans for Student Achievement from Yucca Mesa Elementary School, La Contenta Middle School, Twentynine Palms Junior High School, Twentynine Palms High School, and Yucca Valley High School, which will then be voted on later in the meeting. At 6:15, the board will go into closed session for five items: student expulsions and re-admissions; discipline/dismissal/release of a public school employee; conference with bargaining representatives for the Morongo Teachers Association and the California School Employees Association; conference with legal counsel over anticipated litigation; and an evaluation of the school superintendent. The board will hold a public hearing on the service plan and budget for special education services, known as SELPA and will vote on them later the meeting. The board will also be asked to approve the local control accountability plan, the 2016/17 budget, approve a $1.3 million contract to renovate the locker rooms at Yucca Valley High School, La Contenta Middle School, and Twentynine Palms Junior High School, and authorize the sale of obsolete equipment. The meeting will be held at Joshua Tree Elementary School on Sunburst Avenue in Joshua Tree.
