The Morongo Unified School District Board of Trustees meets in regular session tonight. An agreement with non-teaching employees is expected. While Z107.7 News yesterday indicated a pending teacher’s agreement, reporter David Haldane clarifies that the negotiation process is still unsettled and ongoing…
The Morongo Unified School District is set to ratify an agreement with the California School Employees Association tonight giving classified employees a 3 percent raise retroactive to July 1.
The agreement was hammered out over months of negotiations between the district and the union representing security, food service, office, maintenance and clerical personnel.
Still pending: a contract with the district’s teachers which, contrary to what we reported yesterday, may still be a ways off. Last week the district offered the Morongo Teachers Association an 8.2 percent increase in pay and benefits over two years along with various other inducements, but the deal has yet to be endorsed by union negotiators. We regret any misunderstanding.
Tonight’s school board meeting starts 6 p.m. at Joshua Tree Elementary School on Sunburst Avenue.
