The Morongo Unified School District Board of Trustees held a special meeting last night where the trustees interviewed candidates for the board’s vacant Area 5 seat. Reporter Andrew Dieleman has the details…

At last night’s special meeting, the board interviewed three candidates for the vacant Area 5 seat: Megan Berge, a career lawyer and 18-month resident of Joshua Tree; Shadee Johnson, a 14-year employee for MUSD and 20-year resident of the Morongo Basin; and Thomas Short, a former Marine of 12 years and recent resident of Joshua Tree. After some post-interview deliberations, the board made a unanimous preliminary vote in favor of Megan Berge. The board will hold a final vote during its regular meeting on December 8.
